NOV20247984 Expiry date: 23:59, Tue, 7th Jan 2025 Location: Liverpool Benefits: 30 Days holiday + Bank Holiday and additional Christmas closure days Duration: Fixed-term contract until 31st January 2029 Clinical Research Associate (French speaking) Full time, fixed-term contract until 31st January 2029 Based in Liverpool, with regular international travel to rural Africa We are looking to hire a French speaking Clinical Research Associate to assist with the day to day running of the Wellcome Trust funded ANYSNAKES Clinical Trial in Africa. The successful candidate will report to Professor David Lalloo, Vice-Chancellor of Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and PI for ANYSNAKES, and will support the team in successful delivery of the trial. In addition to this, the successful candidate will provide clinical and epidemiological input into clinical snakebite-research projects being conducted by CSRI (The Centre for Snakebite Research & Innovation). This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience in clinical research and in the running of a major international clinical trial. There will also be potential opportunities to undertake formal research training. This post requires regular 2–3-week visits to hospitals and communities in rural African settings to establish and oversee activities related to the clinical trial, delivering epidemiological advice and ensuring best practice for collection and storage of samples in line with international trial standards. This role is responsible for establishing and running the Clinical Trial. Key duties include: Review of site capabilities, patient number and feasibility in both English and French speaking countries Establishment of trial sites in partnership with UCL’s MRC-CTU including logistics and clinical training Writing of key trial documents such as protocol, clinical SOP’s, CRFs, ethics and regulatory submissions, responding to queries from regulatory bodies as required Discussion and negotiation with antivenom manufacturers regarding access to trial IMP Oversight of trial activity at each site, including regular supervisory visits Ensure appropriate systems are used for collecting and storing clinical and epidemiological data and samples Support with data collection and cleaning at individual sites Review adverse events from site and support in attribution Liaise with UCL’s MRC-CTU on all aspects of the trial, and provide support to all PI’s involved in the trial Supervise and assist BCs, MSc and PhD students in designing and carrying out their projects, contributing to their development of theory and practice Develop and deliver clinical/public health snakebite lectures and tutorials, providing training to in-country teams involved in the trial as appropriate The successful candidate will bring: Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS/MBCHB) degree (or equivalent) Written and verbal fluency in French Experience of undertaking clinical studies in rural African settings Thorough understanding of Good Clinical Practice and responsible conduct of clinical trials Strong IT skills, particularly in the use of software required to statistically analyse the clinical and epidemiological data Ability to deliver tactful, context-appropriate training of in-country clinical and epidemiological research staff Ability and flexibility to travel to Africa for 2–3-week periods multiple times per year Application process: To apply for the position please click on the apply link and upload your CV and covering letter.
