An opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and eager clinician to work with world-leading researchers at the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health, University of Manchester and the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre. This full-time post offers an opportunity to build on your existing research skills and clinical experience in systemic sclerosis (SSc), wider connective tissue diseases (CTD) and major organ involvement. Responsible to Professor Maya H Buch, you will support a recently refreshed 'Manchester Scleroderma Programme', with a strategy that aims to advance our understanding of the major organ involvement in people with SSc (and CTDs), improve risk assessment and diagnostics and develop trials to improve outcomes of people with SSc and CTDs. You will work with Professor Buch's experimental medicine research team and key academics and investigators across the cardio-respiratory field and imaging groups to support novel and ambitious research studies. The post requires working with key team members across the Faculty of Biology, Medicine & Health and BRC, and you will be integral to the success of the wider research programmes. The expectation is to work with Professor Buch to recruit to studies in people with SSc and wider CTDs, develop research projects, and help with data analysis and publications. This is an exciting opportunity for a rheumatology trainee, especially if you are aiming to sub-specialise in rheumatology and/or pursue an academic career. You will be medically qualified, with MRCP or equivalent, a training number in rheumatology and full GMC registration.
