To be part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionals based at St Michael’s Hospital, Bristol providing high quality scientific and technical audiological input to the regional specialist West of England Hearing Implant Programme (WEHIP). Use advanced knowledge and experience of audiology to carry out comprehensive audiological assessment of referrals including patients with additional multiple disabilities and/or complex needs. To be involved in all aspects of the patient pathway from referral to post-implant programming, maintenance and rehabilitation for all Hearing Implants. To work collaboratively with SLTs & team psychologist, in assessment, joint report writing, reviews and joint goal setting. Communicate effectively with patients with significant hearing loss. To consult with patients and their families/carers with empathy and understanding using excellent communication skills. Provide advice and support to patients and families on the maintenance, repair and replacement of equipment. Person specification
Qualifications and Training
MSc in Audiology or equivalent qualification to MSc level with a BSc in audiology or equivalent qualification Registered with the HCPC or RCCP Knowledge and Experience
Highly specialised knowledge of audiology acquired through a combination of experience and post-graduate/post-registration training. Knowledge of data protection act and patient confidentiality. Experience of assessing and treating adults with severe-profound learning losses and experience with complex social, behavioural or medical needs. Experience of working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in assessment, joint report writing, reviews and joint goal setting. Skills and Abilities
Experience with audiology Patient Management System and Database systems such as Auditbase. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. Proficient in using routine NHS hearing aid fitting software and Implant software and associated medical devices. Able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload.
