Job Summary

The post holder will be part of a team of Clinical Site Coordinators who have overall responsibility for patient flow across the hospital site. The post holder will be accountable for their actions and act in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. They will provide strong and visible nursing leadership to junior nursing staff throughout the trust, assume site responsibility in the out-of-hours period, act as the first point of call for wards/departments, ensure safe staffing levels across the hospital out of hours, and liaise with the senior managers on call as appropriate.

Clinical Site Coordinators will have direct line management responsibilities for patient flow coordinators, Transfer unit lead nurse, and Transport Clerks.

Main Duties of the Job

To participate in a 24-hour Site Management Service that provides clinical leadership, professional advice, and clinical expertise to staff across the Trust. To oversee capacity and demand for admissions to acute hospital beds and in times of crisis to evaluate the situation and further escalate bed concerns appropriately. To oversee the allocation of beds to patients accessing services from both an emergency and elective source, ensuring safe and appropriate placement of patients, and achieving related Trust targets while maintaining contingency plans for emerging issues. To lead the Trust as the point of contact in relation to bed occupancy and availability, while coordinating admissions and managing bed allocation. Responsible for the collection and analysis of bed management data for both internal audit and external reporting requirements. Chair daily capacity meetings ensuring information gathered and planned actions are disseminated and followed up. The post holder will be committed to excellent patient care, have strong leadership skills, and be able to communicate with all teams to a high level. The post holder will adhere to Trust values and demonstrate these in their day-to-day role.

Job Responsibilities

To actively participate in and work with the Out of Hours team, ensuring that all calls out of hours are filtered to the appropriate service. To assist in clinical emergencies as required. Complete and deliver the Out of Hours night report and bed status to senior managers at the end of each shift. Participate in and coordinate the Trust's Emergency Response Teams to fire, security alerts, cardiac arrests, and other clinical emergencies and to be responsible for coordination and first-line management of major and serious untoward incidents, as required. To cover for Night Sisters in the event of absence/low staffing.

Person Specification

Education and Qualification

Essential 1st level degree or evidence of sound intellectual ability and ongoing personal development at senior management level NMC Registered nursing qualification Leadership and management qualification or equivalent experience Desirable Degree at Masters level Work Related Circumstances

Essential Good team worker Occupational Health Clearance Knowledge

Essential Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of NHS Healthcare services and national standards Experience of dealing with difficult operational issues Experience

Essential Extensive experience at Band 7 in an acute hospital setting. Current knowledge of developments in the NHS impacting on the Trust including comprehensive understanding of current NHS initiatives and targets. Experience of working with HR policies and procedures and demonstrable evidence of managing staff. Experience of investigating and addressing patient complaints and clinical incidents Accreditation (CQC) and revalidation knowledge and experience. Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams including medical staff Experience of personal accountability for service delivery Desirable Experience of and the ability to navigate Healthroster and safer care staffing system, to ensure safe staffing across the trust.
