To assist in diabetic wound care clinics as directed by the podiatrist e.g. call patients into clinic and prepare the patient for treatment, removing hosiery, taking down dressings. When treatment is complete, apply dressing as delegated by the podiatrist. Under the direction of the podiatrist make entries in the clinical record. To assist the podiatrist in minor surgery procedures by making the room ready for use, recording drug information and providing the podiatrist sterile dressings as required. The clinical assistant will be responsible for the management of clinical equipment and infection control processes. To greet patients on arrival, check appointment times, and direct patients to appropriate waiting areas. To support patient transport issues i.e. delayed pick ups and facilitate / expedite as needed. Be the first point of contact for telephone enquiries on behalf of the community podiatry team. Using own judgement to establish the validity and priority of the contact on services and directing messages on, as appropriate. To chase non attenders of the highest risk and facilitate further appointments at an appropriate interval. To carry out general administration duties such as photocopying and electronic communications when required by the clinical team to ensure smooth running of clinics and throughput of patients.
