An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Trials Assistant to work in our Research Department. We have unique opportunities for a motivated person to come and join our research team on a fixed term contract to support the research team in Division 2 at University Hospitals Dorset. The post will involve working in a number of different areas within the Trust including Cardiology, Stroke, Diabetes, and Endocrine. This role involves delivering commercial & NIHR portfolio studies. We are dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centered clinical research. You will join an enthusiastic, driven, and caring team to help provide research across the trust for new and existing studies. Our team participates in research within many different specialties and areas across the Trust. Enthusiasm, self-motivation, flexibility, and drive will be required to ensure the success of this post. You will be involved in all aspects of the research process from study start-up, recruitment and delivery, to close out of a study. You will need to have an excellent level of written and verbal communication skills and good IT skills. Main Duties of the Job

You will work in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, implementing studies to translate scientific discoveries into improved patient outcomes. Previous research experience is not necessary as all training and development will be provided, although clinical skills of performing venepuncture and laboratory skills would be advantageous (but not essential). Along with the relevant and appropriate experience, you will need to demonstrate: An interest in clinical research Initiative Excellent communication skills to provide guidance and support to patients and colleagues Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines In this role, you can expect a friendly working environment, professional support, and excellent development opportunities. Qualifications

Good level of general education as evidenced by exam results or qualifications. Good Clinical Practice Course (or complete within one month of employment). NVQ level 3 in Care or equivalent experience. Experience

Experience of working with the public or people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Familiarity with medical terminology. Proficient in Microsoft Office software. Basic keyboard skills, EPR, CAMIS, etc. or willingness to be trained. Experience with Excel spreadsheets (or willingness to learn). Knowledge

Knowledge of clinical trials and other research methodology. Interpersonal Skills

Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to communicate factual information accurately. Other Requirements Specific to the Role

Ability to undertake additional skills and training as required. Respects the privacy and dignity of patients, carers, and colleagues. Be able to speak English as necessary to undertake the role. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
