Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to be part of the research delivery team as a clinical trial assistant (CTA) within the Tees Valley research Alliance (TVRA) primarily working at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking to welcome a motivated, dynamic, organised, flexible person with excellent communication skills and to support patients through their research journey, working within the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
Main duties of the job
The main role of the CTA will be to support patients and relatives in the clinical environment during their research pathway. Meeting and greeting patients/relatives, discussing research projects, conducting clinical observations for example; blood pressure, pulse, body mass index (BMI), health questionnaires etc. The role will also support collecting clinical data and recording in relevant paper and electronic databases. Experience with Excel and other electronic systems would be essential for the role. An induction and preceptorship package will be provided for the successful candidate to support the delivery of high-quality research. Informal telephone conversation is recommended. Qualifications
Essential
Level 1 in English & Maths or equivalent qualification
NVQ3 or equivalent qualifications/experience.
Knowledge
Essential
Developed communication skills to communicate with all levels of staff and patients and carers face to face, on the telephone or in writing.
Demonstrate initiative in resolving issues and problems.
Ability to prioritise workload, manage time effectively and work to tight deadlines.
Desirable
Knowledge of medical terminology Clinical skills, including, venepuncture, vital signs, ECG's.
Experience
Essential
Up to date computer/keyboard skills and working knowledge of computer-based packages e.g. Word and Excel needed for ability to access, input and retrieve information onto a computer and monitoring of trials patients.
Ability to work effectively within a team.
Able to work on own with minimal supervision.
