We are looking to appoint a dynamic, self-driven individual to join a well-established successful Innovation, Research and Development department. The successful candidate will need to be adaptable, confident and enthusiastic, be able to prioritise and work autonomously. They will support the delivery of a portfolio of clinical trials, managing and co-ordinating their own allocated portfolio under indirect supervision. They will help to support the day-to-day management of an allocated portfolio of studies. This includes successful recruitment and retention of participants, strict protocol adherence, data collection, and organisation of relevant tests and procedures. They will need to have a good background of general clinical knowledge to provide research participants with excellent clinical care. The post holder will need to be flexible and adaptable in response to the service needs and work across different clinical specialties as required. The post holder will also be responsible for promoting research within Trust departments and supporting colleagues and local investigators to deliver high quality research activity to support participant care. The post holder must be willing to apply to the Clinical Trials Practitioner (CTP) registration with the Academy for Healthcare Science (AHCS) on meeting the criteria or are already a registered CTP. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work across a diverse range of clinical specialties and be responsive to the changing needs of the service. Work with the other members of the research team to support, coordinate and deliver allocated clinical trials and research undertaken in the Trust, maintaining an accurate account of project status and records as required. Work collaboratively within and outside the NHS and develop professional relationships with other relevant organisations including non-commercial bodies and pharmaceutical sponsors. Candidates will need to possess effective and clear communication skills. Knowledge in research design methods, and understanding of analytical processes or willingness to learn. You will be a team player with the competence to work independently across the Trust, establishing networks of communication across multiple specialties and support services. Accurate data management and reporting of safety findings in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). Excellent organisational skills. Maintain consistent high standard of detailed documentation including data collection and entry using paper and electronic case report forms. Competent in working on a variety of computer-based systems. Ability to read, interpret & understand research protocols. Can obtain written informed consent for research studies or willing to learn. Obtains and records observations such as vital signs, ECG, respiratory function and blood glucose analysis, as required by the trial protocol and as delegated by the registered healthcare practitioner, informing trained staff of any abnormal results. Demonstrate proficiency in basic laboratory skills including venepuncture and effective management of laboratory samples, including processing, storage and coordinating shipment of samples; training will be provided if required. Coordinates the implementation and assumes responsibility for aspects of clinical trial protocols in accordance with relevant guidelines, under direct and indirect supervision. Work both autonomously and as part of the research team, in clinical areas within the Trust and with external organisations. Supports research participants through the process of trial participation. Provides a high standard of clinical care within a multi-professional research team, seeking assistance from registered healthcare professionals as appropriate. Demonstrate excellent communication skills to communicate effectively with all disciplines of staff, attending MDT meetings, investigator meetings and other research events on and off site. Recognise emergency situations and respond appropriately in line with Trust policies and Standard Operating Procedures. Current GCP certification or willing to complete. Demonstrate ability to meet Trust values. Person Specification

Qualifications

Level 3 NVQ in or equivalent experience. Foundation Degree in Care or equivalent experience. Basic literacy and numeracy skills (English and Maths GCSE). Research methods GCP qualification. Experience & Knowledge

Experience in a clinical setting. Clinical trial experience. Other Requirements

It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
