Description Aurora is a fast growing software-focused global business, and we’re looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Lead to take overall responsibility for managing our AWS infrastructure and external Data Centre provision. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring it is secure, cost effective, well managed and meets the needs of the business as we grow. The role will involve working closely with the product development teams to provide leadership, support and guidance to ensure we make the right infrastructure choices, and have appropriate operational focus (e.g. telemetry) in order to effectively manage our increasingly complex cloud ecosystem. You will have significant public cloud experience, having had responsibility for running a large and complex cloud environment using modern technologies and development practices. You will also have hands-on experience with infrastructure as code technologies (e.g. CloudFormation). The successful candidate will work in a creative and intellectually stimulating environment. You will enjoy autonomy, and the opportunity to have a significant impact on Aurora’s Software strategy, ensuring that our Infrastructure meets the needs of this very fast growing, data heavy business. Key Responsibilities Own and monitor our cloud infrastructure estate. Ensure our cloud infrastructure is secure, scalable and follows best practices. Define and maintain our cloud infrastructure strategy and roadmap to support the business as it grows. Overall responsible for cost control and optimization through a combination of monitoring, oversight, strategy and influencing product team technical approach and roadmaps. Define and evolve our telemetry and monitoring approach to help find problems before our users do, and give the insights required to inform our strategy and roadmap. Line-manage a small team (initially 1 person). Support InfoSec team in audits (e.g. ISO27001, SOC2), as needed. Manage supplier relationships with cloud providers.

What we are looking for A strong engineering background with significant public cloud experience (preferably in AWS). Experience leading cloud infrastructure strategy in a modern, complex technology-focused business. Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and skills to implement infrastructure changes (e.g. networking changes through CloudFormation) when required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Strong business and financial focus.
