About the Department

The Cloud Capability Centre, part of abrdn's Group Technology division, leads the way in cloud adoption and innovation. The team works closely with product, project, and operational teams to create a robust Azure cloud platform that supports fast and effective delivery. Collaborating with enterprise IT, security, and digital teams, the Centre provides technical direction, ensures governance alignment, and drives cloud adoption across the organisation.

About the Role

As a

Cloud Platform Engineer , you will play a key role in the development, automation, and operational management of abrdn's Azure cloud platform. Working as part of a dynamic team, you will focus on building a resilient, secure, and scalable platform that enables workloads to operate effectively. You will engage with multiple stakeholders, contribute to platform development roadmaps, and support engineering teams in adopting best practices aligned with the Microsoft Cloud Adoption and Well-Architected frameworks.

Key Responsibilities Develop and manage the cloud platform structure, including management groups, subscriptions, resource groups, tagging, and RBAC. Implement and manage platform services such as logging, monitoring, and guardrails to support workload teams. Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices across workloads, using tools like Terraform and Azure DevOps. Collaborate with workload infrastructure teams to ensure compliance with core platform standards. Support operational activities, including image management and deployment of patches to IaaS resources. Contribute to the platform development roadmap and manage associated backlogs. Automate processes to enhance security, resilience, and resource standardisation. Engage with teams across the organisation to align platform design with workload requirements and governance standards. About the Candidate

Experience Proven track record in working with cloud technologies, with a focus on Microsoft Azure. Hands-on experience in platform development, operations, and automation. Familiarity with infrastructure resilience, security practices, and governance in cloud environments. Skills and Knowledge Strong knowledge of Azure services and the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework. Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, Packer, Azure Compute Gallery). Expertise in Azure DevOps or GitHub for automated deployments. Experience in Azure administration, including identity, governance, networking, and resource management. Knowledge of image management approaches and AWS administration practices is a plus.
