We are recruiting for a brand-new position within our Senior Management team here at Apollo Scientific offering an exciting opportunity to join our team at a key point of strategic development in order to deliver strong future growth. As the Commercial Director you will be a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for helping to define the commercial strategy and development here at Apollo Scientific, with a pathway to a Chief Commercial Officer role for a high performing candidate in the role. We are seeking a commercially driven and dynamic Commercial Director to lead on the following areas of the business: Sales, Marketing, Purchasing and Product Management. With an ability to “hit the ground running,” we are looking for a highly motivated individual with an energetic mindset and infectious enthusiasm to drive improvements and ability to guide and deliver change with positivity and passion. The successful candidate will oversee the strategy and execution of our commercial activities across these key departments and look to expand these through the development and management of overseas expansions to these departments as business needs require. As part of the leadership team, the Commercial Director will focus on: Commercial Strategy:

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for growth across the UK, EU, USA and beyond. Leadership:

Manage and mentor the Heads of Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Procurement and Product Management to achieve individual and collective goals. Collaboration:

Work closely with other departments to ensure cohesive messaging, strategy alignment, and operational excellence. Performance Management:

Set and monitor KPIs for departmental reports, fostering a data-driven approach to success. Define and implement a commercial strategy to ensure alignment with company growth objectives. Oversee the marketing and sales teams to drive performance and revenue generation, ensuring these are supported through high performing customer service levels, alongside Procurement and Product Management support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless customer journeys and brand consistency. Provide strategic leadership and set the overall direction of the company to achieve business goals and growth targets. Oversee the development and implementation of long-term business strategies and plans. Approve major business decisions, including financial policies, contracts, and resource allocation. Manage high-level client relationships, ensuring alignment of services with client needs and market demands. Monitor and ensure the company’s compliance with UK (and where applicable, international) laws, regulations, and industry standards. Supervise department heads and employees to ensure efficient operations and collaborative performance. Contributing to the financial health of the company, including reviewing budgets, financial statements, and operational performance, alongside Financial Heads. Conduct internal audits and risk assessments to maintain organizational integrity and transparency. Represent the company in key negotiations, stakeholder meetings, and public engagements. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and market expansions. Drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Requirements Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, life science, pharmaceutical or related discipline (master’s degree preferred). Further professional qualification in Sales, Marketing, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field desired. Proven track record as a Chief Officer, Senior Business Development Manager, or a similar senior leadership role within a chemical related industry. Previous experience within the chemical catalogue sector an advantage. Commercial acumen – ability to sell based on content-knowledge with a strong background of delivering on revenue and profitability growth objectives. High level of technical skills in scientific and IT disciplines Structured, organised working style. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and client-facing skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels. Proven track record in finance, accounting, and auditing, with expertise in compliance, risk management, and financial reporting. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a history of building strong stakeholder relationships. In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, including P&L analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and internal controls. Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and implement process improvements for business growth. Proficiency in industry standards. Strategic thinker with experience in identifying new market opportunities and driving business expansion. Strong marketing expertise, with the ability to guide teams in brand development and customer acquisition. A results-driven mindset with experience in scaling businesses across multiple regions. Exceptional leadership skills, capable of managing and inspiring high-performing teams. Experience working in international markets, with cultural awareness and adaptability. Strategic thinking combined with hands-on operational experience. Investment of Training & personal development.
