Having just secured significant new funding, we’re looking for an experienced business development leader that knows how to develop and deliver successful commercial strategies in the chemical industry.

The Role

In this role you will be responsible for shaping and developing our commercial engine – including business development, sales, strategic marketing, and communications . You will be responsible for maximising our commercial growth , developing and implementing commercial strategies t hat successfully deliver our key milestones.

By understanding the strategic goals and milestones to be hit, you will shape the structure and development of the commercial team, and lead by example to ensure we build an impressive opportunity portfolio .

As an early phase, high-growth company , we’re looking for someone with an aptitude for strategic thinking, and who has a track record of translating strategic plans into commercial success in the speciality chemical industry . The MOF market is still in its infancy, so you will be working closely with customers and prospects to understand their applications and communicate the benefits of MOFs as an effective tool to achieve their goals.

K ey Areas of Responsibility

The successful candidate should be excited at the prospect of leading the development of a high performing commercial team and playing a central role in Promethean’s mission to unleash the power of MOFs.

As someone who leads from the front and by example, you will ensure that the necessary strategic plans are in place to help the business development team be as effective as possible in growing our opportunity pipeline, helping advance our technical development through customer proof points, and ultimately increasing the revenue performance of the Company.

Key member of the company’s leadership team, helping set, shape, and deliver the company’s strategy, mission and vision

Lead, develop, and mentor the company’s marketing, product management, business development, and communications staff to ensure the company achieves its strategic growth goals and the team continues to develop professionally

Develop, plan, and implement strategies that align with business goals to promote growth

Ensure we have a solid foundation of market intimacy and understanding to inform business planning on commercial opportunities and identify unmet needs in the emerging target segments and feed these into marketing for refinement of the market strategy

Manage the growth of the opportunity pipeline by identifying new opportunities and progressing existing opportunities through the sales cycle, increasing their probability of successful conversion into revenue

Work with customers and prospects to communicate the benefits of MOFs in target applications and help the customer along their product specification journey for their application

Translate the marketing strategy to an execution plan

Work to understand relevant market sizing, value chain dynamics, competitive intelligence, and policy trends to create an effective growth plan

Qualifications, skills & experience Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a B2B business development role within the speciality chemicals sector

Inspirational leadership skills and a track record in building effective, high-performing teams

Competence in managing early phase sales growth involving systematic approaches to reducing technical and commercial risk

Degree-level education, preferably in a business/marketing and/or a technical/scientific discipline

Experience in developing and managing an opportunity pipeline, leading the conversion of leads into opportunities and commercial success

Fluent in written and oral English

Good IT skills (particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
