Who are we? GWR is the proud custodian of Brunel's railway - one of the most prestigious networks in the world. We have some of the newest trains in the country and exciting plans to extend our services. With more than one hundred million passenger journeys each year, we carry people to over 275 stations in the South West, from Cornwall and South Wales to London, passing through beautiful country and some of the UK's top tourist destinations. We are transforming the way people think about train travel, empowering our team of over 6,000 people from all different backgrounds to make it a great experience for our customers. Together, we will revalue rail as a very special way to travel – relaxing, fast, efficient, friendly and fun. About the team and role: The Revenue Management team at GWR is responsible for managing train pricing, analysing passenger demand and ticket sales with the aim to maximise commercial returns while balancing demand with available capacity. Integral to the team, the Commercial Insights Analysts assess passenger demand and revenue performance, providing crucial analysis and insights to the business and stakeholders. This is done by utilising extensive data from various sources and tools such as SQL, Power BI and Tableau, which help make data-led, customer-focused decisions. Your main responsibilities will be: Supporting revenue and demand forecasting to predict the impact of commercial projects. Assisting in reporting on GWR's revenue performance and conducting analysis to explain changes or variances to forecast. Evaluating the impact of different factors that affect customer revenue and volumes. Providing regular and ad-hoc revenue analysis, manipulating and drawing meaningful insights from large and complex data sets, then presenting findings. Supporting analytical initiatives that will bring value to stakeholders across the network. Assisting with compiling revenue budget and forecasts. You'll need to be: Detail oriented, ensuring accuracy. Organised with good time management. Able to visualise, present and communicate complex issues in a clear and concise manner. Able to grasp and solve complex issues and systems quickly and independently. Able to make confident and innovative suggestions. As a minimum you'll need to have: A strong commercial acumen. Proven analytical and numerical skills. A degree or equivalent. Advanced working knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel. An understanding of the UK rail industry is desirable but not essential. Experience with business intelligence software and working with large data sets would also be advantageous but not essential. About the location: The Point is located on Paddington Basin, just a few minutes' walk from London Paddington station. There are onsite gym facilities and a range of shops/cafes in the immediate vicinity. Working Pattern: 37 hours per week. Currently the team is working flexibly with some office- and remote-working. There is an expectation to attend the office at least twice per week. The team often also works from Milford House, Swindon, which offers an alternative office location. The Reward: As well as a great team environment and comprehensive training, all GWR colleagues enjoy a range of benefits including ongoing development, defined benefit pension scheme, free rail travel across the GWR network for you and your family, company-sponsored health care plan, discounted shopping and gym membership and an employee assistance programme. We all belong at GWR.
