Here at UPP we are looking for a Commercial Manager

to primarily support our North and Central area which includes Loughborough, Nottingham, Lancaster, Hull, Leeds and York Universities, plus other regions when required As the Commercial Manager you will provide commercial and contractual support to the UPP Group Business, working closely with our operational teams whilst monitoring and driving improvements in operational performance standards. You will utilise your commercial experience and acumen to support our operational business and build a commercial mindset within teams. You will be the subject matter expert on commercial contract queries and utilise this to secure service variations, deliver benchmarking activities to test and drive value, process legislative changes in line with contract and financial propositions, and deliver a suite of training to our people and partners. This role will be pivotal in identifying cost transformation activities through mitigating service scope creep and revenue transformation through securing new income streams and maximising those already in place. This hybrid role which will be based out of our award winning London office near Cannon Street, London Bridge and Monument station, with travel to our north sites. Role responsibilities include: Support execution of the UPP commercial strategy to preserve and grow the value of the business through cost mitigation and revenue optimisation Develop in depth expert knowledge of relevant UPP contracts and key relationships between the UPP business units and our university partners, ensuring contractual obligations are discharged Identify and process service and legislative change variations, from inception or early identification through to contractual and financial completion Participate in financial reviews to ensure costs are appropriate to contract and changes are managed appropriately Deliver benchmarking processes and activities for UPP and University services through collation and analysis of data on costs and performance, as well as report preparation, making appropriate recommendations to the relevant Boards Promote awareness of service level agreements and key commercial principles to enhance and protect delivery Ensure performance management systems and payment mechanisms are appropriately deployed Deliver the commercial work stream in mobilisation projects at the respective locations to ensure commercial considerations are captured, risk mitigation strategies are implemented and actions are carried out accordingly Upskill our teams through multiple channels to build commerciality within operations We are looking for an experienced Commercial Manager with: Experience in commercial contract management including variations, legislative change mechanics, performance and payment mechanisms An understanding of complex contracts, preferably PFI/PPP Experience in a facilities management environment or similar Ability to identify opportunities to implement ongoing performance improvements that mitigate costs and optimise revenue Presentation and reporting skills Alongside this you will have strong communication, organisational and problem solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively and embrace/drive change.
