About the Role Nottingham City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated public procurement specialist to lead our Commercial Systems and Strategy Team. The post holder will lead a small team to: Develop governance, processes, provision of training and other procurement and contract management support tools. Oversee the information and system data analytics activities, proactively analysing contracts, spend and markets, regularly reporting on risks and identifying opportunities for savings and efficiencies. Oversee the development of the mid- to long-term commercial strategy, and the development of governance and processes and provision of training and other procurement and contract management support tools. Reporting to the Head of Procurement and working closely with the Procurement Category Teams and Shareholder Unit, you will ensure the necessary strategy, systems, processes and training are in place to deliver commercial best practice across the Authority, including responding to the Procurement Act 2023. This important role has a key part to play in the Council's ongoing improvement journey, maximising use of third party spend and delivering savings. About You The ideal candidate will have: Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or demonstrable equivalent knowledge and experience. Knowledge of public procurement legislation and policy. Good understanding of the marketplace, economic, legislative and political trends that could affect the Council's strategic commercial direction. Ability to identify efficiency opportunities from analysing data and strong influencing skills to get approval and progress such opportunities. Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills with a flexible and adaptable approach to changing priorities, and ability to lead cross-functional teams to deliver opportunities.
