To carry out on-site commissioning, fault diagnosis, maintenance, inspections, repairs, and modification of BRUSH’s range of Switchgear products. Main Responsibilities

Commissioning, repair, and maintenance of the companies range of Switchgear products, both on site and in Brush Blackwood factory. Test and commission switchgear up to 33/36kV. Undertake fault diagnosis of switchgear and related equipment; test and rectify, as necessary. Interpret specifications and technical requirements; prepare method statements and prepare detailed and concise reports for submission to customers. Attend technical meetings on site and at customers’ premises. Undergo training if necessary, to ensure that current and future H&S requirements are always met. Supervise and train customers’ site personnel. Carry out an on-site risk assessment on every assignment and record details thereof on the special form provided. Provide written reports on completion of each assignment. Accurately record time, attendance and retain VAT receipts for submission with all expense claims. Qualifications: Required Experience in dealing with customers effectively. Minimum HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering Desirable Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering Proven track record in a similar role Skills / Knowledge: Required Adaptable and effective Switchgear Commissioning Engineer. Excellent communication skills Drive to continually improve quality. Customer focused. Enquiring mind, willingness to adopt new approaches. Flexible and willing to adapt. Numerate Ability to plan and prioritise work. Able to undertake extensive UK site working, in addition to attending sites both offshore and overseas, often for protracted periods. This is a challenging and important role requiring a high degree of technical competence with a corresponding level of self-sufficiency and resourcefulness, as global time difference often mean that factory support is not immediately available. Qualified through a recognised Technical apprenticeship in Switchgear. Computer literate with the ability to maintain- accurate records. Ability to work with all recognised IT systems including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and internet/intranet applications. Desirable Proven track record in developing and maintaining highly effective working relationships at all levels. Possesses a high degree of technical competence. Product knowledge/experience of switchgear and associated equipment would be advantageous. Experience: Required A minimum of four year’s experience required in switchgear test/commissioning. Experience in representing the company at customers’ sites and operating remotely on own initiative whilst observing the requirements set down in the company’s code of Conduct for Commissioning Engineers. Able to work with company’s rules and guidance notes on health and safety, including operation of safe systems of work in relation to high voltage and medium voltage electrical systems and work in a heavy industrial environment. Desirable Field Test Specialist in switchgear testing. Attributes & Disposition: Required Self-sufficient, resourceful and a problem solver. Strength of character and high levels of energy. An effective communicator, fluent in both spoken and written English. The nature of the work calls for strength of character and physical fitness. Differing assignments may require working alone or as a member of a team. Clear understanding of cultural differences and has the diplomacy to cope with aspects of the role. Desirable Flexible Customer focused. Reliable Supportive Adaptable Influential Methodical Self-driven Challenging Other Undertake offshore survival training if required. Undergo a medical examination annually to ascertain and certify physical fitness for offshore and overseas work and in pursuance of drug and alcohol policies. About Us
