Commissioning Engineer focuses on leading and carry out the commissioning of utility-scale solar farms from initial testing through to grid connection and handover.

What the role involves

  • Leading and carry out the commissioning of utility-scale solar farms from initial testing through to grid connection and handover.
  • Managing commissioning plans, schedules, and documentation to ensure full compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Operate HV and LV switchgear, including the operation of circuit breakers and measurement of CT/VT values.
  • Execute G99 and G100 testing, ensuring compliance with grid code requirements.
  • Review electrical designs, contributing to design modifications or improvements where required.
  • Liaise with ICPs, DNOs, and grid operators to coordinate testing and approvals.

Skills and requirements

  • Requires strong technical knowledge of HV systems up to 132kV, a solid understanding of protection systems, and hands-on experience delivering grid-connected solar projects.
  • Proven experience commissioning utility-scale solar PV or large renewable energy projects.
  • Strong understanding of HV systems up to 132kV, including protection, control, and switching operations.
  • Experience with grid connection processes and dealing with DNOs and ICPs.
