Job Introduction An opportunity has become available for a Communications Engineer based in Telford reporting to the Telecoms Operations Team Manager. The Communications Engineer will be responsible for the installation, commissioning and maintenance of our Telecoms & SCADA Networks in West Midlands, working with our Network Management Centre (NMC), Design and Commercial teams to deliver a reliable, resilient and secure solution in a fast and evolving space. Please note:

the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. Main Responsibilities

You’ll be hands-on, responsible for managing your own time to achieve targets set by the business and our customers, working on the Telecoms & SCADA networks that primarily supports the Control and Visibility of the high-voltage electricity network. You will: Carry out the installation, operation and maintenance of SCADA & Telecoms networks within the designated region. Work with contractors and when necessary witness acceptance tests. Manage your own working time to ensure that objectives and projects are completed in the most efficient manner. Work with colleagues and customers to ensure a continuity of service. Work safely and in accordance with approved procedures and techniques. Provide technical support to customers and where necessary liaise with colleagues to solve complex issues. The Ideal Candidate

You would ideally have experience as a Telecoms or SCADA Engineer, so you'll have an understanding of UHF & VHF Radio Networks, SCADA and Automation equipment. Strong communication skills are key, so you can coordinate jobs and clearly explain issues. As you’ll be in control of your diary, we’ll need you to be resilient, organised and able to prioritise your workload. Team players thrive in this role, and you’ll have experience using iPads, computers and our additional software. Ideally qualified to BTEC or equivalent in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering, however applications are also encouraged from individuals that consider themselves suitable to make a success of this opportunity. The successful applicant may be required to undertake standby duties in accordance with an agreed rota. The post requires National Security Vetting clearance with eligibility requirements. To meet National Security Vetting requirements you will normally need to have been a resident in the UK for at least 5 years prior to the date of application.
