The opportunity
A leading transport regulator is seeking a Communications Specialist to join their corporate affairs function. This role will report to the Director of Communications and will play a pivotal role on all stakeholder engagement activities including internal colleagues and political stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Drive strategic stakeholder engagement initiatives to strengthen relationships and advocate for the organisation’s priorities.
- Develop and execute a forward-looking engagement plan, maintaining regular updates on emerging issues and organizational news via newsletters and briefings.
- Inform and train internal teams on stakeholder relations, offering insights into external developments.
- Prepare speeches, briefs, and support senior leaders' stakeholder engagement activities.
- Handle communications and responses (e.g., parliamentary questions, Freedom of Information requests) and support internal alignment on key issues.
- Facilitate political engagement, including coordinating with key MPs and committees.
- Contribute to a consistent, coordinated approach within the Communications & Engagement team.
The ideal candidate
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in senior-level stakeholder management within large organisations.
- Strong understanding of aviation and aerospace stakeholders, including government, airlines, and regulatory agencies.
- Clear, persuasive communicator with excellent writing skills and adherence to deadlines.
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders to build trust.
- Skilled in crisis communication to maintain stakeholder confidence during emergencies.
- Adaptable to changes in industry regulations, safety protocols, and technology.
