CAMHS Clinical Psychologist, Band 8a, 0.8wte (30 hours) As a result of service reconfiguration, we have developed an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist wanting to develop their expertise and experience within an expanding Community CAMHS service covering the North Nottinghamshire area (Newark, Sherwood, and Bassetlaw). We will also consider developing this role as a preceptorship post Band 7-8a and welcome applications from recently qualified clinical psychologists or those due to qualify in 2025. The post holder will join existing clinical psychologists and be part of a multidisciplinary team including nursing, social workers, psychiatry, and a broad range of psychological therapists and family support workers. You will also join an integrated, friendly, and supportive group of 21 Psychologists working across Nottinghamshire. There are good opportunities for continued professional development, strong mechanisms for support, and good links with the DClinpsy courses at Nottingham Trent, Sheffield, and Leicester Universities. The post holder is required to hold a postgraduate doctorate in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS and have Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration. Experience in working with children, young people, their families/carers, and supporting networks is essential. Main duties of the job
To work as part of Community CAMHS by providing a clinical psychology service to children, young people, and their families. To also provide support to children and young people’s care systems which will include direct and indirect clinical work, consultation, supervision, and training of others. To participate and undertake clinically relevant research/audits and specific clinical lead roles that support the community Team Leads and Professional Lead in developing the service. Clinical To provide specialist psychological assessment for children and young people referred to the Community CAMHS team, based on the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of highly complex psychological data from various sources. Formulate, implement, and evaluate therapeutic interventions for young people in line with their training modality and experience. To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for young people, their families, and care systems. To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, considering current theoretical and therapeutic models. To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment, and discharge of young people. To provide specialist psychological advice and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to young people’s formulation, diagnosis, and treatment plan. To undertake risk assessment and management for clients and provide general advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management. Manage a caseload while considering and adhering to safeguarding policy and procedure alongside national/local legislation. Involve the system around the young person in treatment as appropriate. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols. Person specification
Qualifications
Postgraduate doctorate in clinical psychology as accredited by the BPS Current registration with HCPC Experience
Experience of providing specialist clinical psychology services to children & young people aged 0-18 and their families Experience of assessing, formulating, planning, care coordinating, and supporting children and young people with mental health problems in a community setting Experience of working as part of a multi-agency environment Skills
Ability to undertake comprehensive mental health assessments of young people and their families. Able to communicate clearly, sensitively, and effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate therapeutic interventions. Contractual Requirements
