Due to significant growth, Pinkston Watersports is looking to expand the team. Pinkston Watersports is a charity with the fundamental objective of developing and continuing to develop a Centre of Excellence in paddlesports for all, with a higher aim of supporting social wellbeing and cohesion within our communities. Our communities form the core of our 4 key areas of business: local communities encompassing local schools, community groups, and youth services. Our paddling community is drawn from across the West of Scotland and nationally in slalom, freestyle, polo, and we offer flat and white-water lessons from grassroots to performance. Our club community plays a significant role in our impact as we build on our local and national activities and support a range of progression pathways for people. Lastly, our rescue service business allows us to effectively offer flood and swift water rescue training in the city centre, secure in the knowledge that our clean water record is second to none. Pinkston provides opportunities to experience outdoor activities, predominantly paddlesports, to encourage meaningful health and wellbeing experiences for children, young people, and the wider community across Glasgow. We value responsible citizenship through environmental awareness, accountability, and by fostering a growth mindset for all. Pinkston Watersports has gone from strength to strength over our first 10 years. We are now ready for the next steps in our development and want to expand and strengthen our team. Highly motivated, confident self-starter At least one paddlesport qualification / Experience in an outdoor setting Safeguarding Working knowledge of youth work in Scotland Support community / development of volunteer programmes Highly organised with great communication skills at all levels Proven ability to work with young people Ability to manage several projects / client groups with effective use of time IT literacy Ability to self-reflect and work in a team environment Driving licence / car (expectation of some driving / school visits) Experience of making funding applications Understanding of the various youth work awards such as ASDAN, Community Achievement, Saltire 2-day First Aid Duties

You will work closely with the Activities Manager to create an effective, inclusive programme of services from fun sessions for scouts/guides, community groups, and others to full school accreditation option programmes. Dive into our youth clubs and local projects and understand the diversity and the issues facing our families and communities, building on our existing programmes. You will likely spend a significant amount of time building up a portfolio of school visits, youth and community contacts, and speaking to local groups about the opportunities available at Pinkston. Some time will also be spent on grant funding applications, which will be a desirable attribute. Pinkston operates in the north of Glasgow and is uniquely placed to support those experiencing higher than average levels of disadvantage in terms of educational attainment, positive mental and physical health and wellbeing, and often with a lack of aspirational mindset. Can you inspire, connect, communicate, and create a place of mutual respect to support the benefits of the outdoors with a growth mindset? Youth work experience will be critical, thinking outside the box, organisational ability, and the ability to manage several projects at the same time. IT skills and genuine planning will support strong evaluation techniques which will be required for all programmes. Highly motivated, optimistic people only please. Application Notes
