This is an exciting role which brings a new dimension to the Participation team, focusing on enhancing netball delivery in schools and early years settings, and forging closer connections between the National Governing Body and educational institutions across Wales. The role holder will lead on growing and developing our Participation Programmes in schools and early years settings, with a particular focus on supporting young people to grow their love of netball outside of the school environment. Working with a range of partners, for example, Local Authorities, Day Nurseries, education trusts - no two days will be the same. We are committed to growing the sport of Netball in Wales and harnessing the power it has to improve people’s lives. We are seeking a conscientious individual to join the organisation as a Community Development Officer. This is an initial 1 year fixed-term contract, with a possibility to extend beyond the initial term. Specific Responsibilities:

Target schools in areas of Wales with large latent demand for netball, working with their Physical Education and extracurricular departments to identify and facilitate their netball needs. Ensure the delivery of high-quality, relevant programmes that align with the Wales Netball 2030 strategy e.g. Tots Netball, Blitz Netball. Develop and implement initiatives to attract new participants to the sport, focusing on the specific needs of those in school and early years communities and adapting our offerings. Establish links between Schools and Junior Clubs, facilitating the transition to out-of-school netball participation. Identify demand and foster partnerships with schools, early years providers and local authorities, building a network and promoting the benefits of netball participation and membership. Facilitate taster workshops and training sessions to ‘train-the-trainer’, enabling programmes to run sustainably in school & early years settings. Understand the demand for workforce education surrounding schools and early years settings, support the Workforce Officer (WO) in course planning and signpost the community to relevant opportunities. Proactively provide guidance and support to affiliated schools and early years settings, acting as the key point-of-contact, promoting Wales Netball membership benefits. Plan and facilitate regular forums and drop-in sessions for schools and early years settings, providing updates, sharing best-practice and addressing needs. Collect impact data and insight on netball in schools and early years settings, working with the Participation Support Officer (PSO) to ensure it’s thoroughly analysed. Apply gathered data and insight, adapting our programmes and support as required and communicating impact to potential partners. Collaborate with organisations to organise and promote events and tournaments in the schools space, e.g. Local Authorities. Explore innovative ways to partner with commercial organisations to promote our work and generate alternative income streams, e.g. sponsorship of netball resources distributed in school. Work with the Participation Support Officer (PSO) and the Communications Officer (CO) to promote and market programmes across multiple channels, relevant to the target audience. Work with the relevant Wales Netball staff members to inspire participation and create ‘fans of the future’ by strategically distributing free or discounted live-netball ticketing opportunities to identified schools. Promote and advocate for the concept of Physical Literacy within school and early years provisions, ensuring the ‘Foundations Framework’ principles are understood in all primary settings. Additional Responsibilities:

Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by the Line Manager and CEO. Proactively comply with and promote all organisation policies, in particular those relating to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Mental Health and Data Protection.
