About the role

At Tesco, we believe in the power of spending more time together, face to face, than apart. So, during your working week, you can expect to spend 60% of your time in one of our office locations or local sites and the rest remotely. We also recognise that life looks a little different for each of us. Some people are at the start of their careers, some want the freedom to do the things they love. Others are going through life-changing moments like becoming a carer, nearing retirement, adapting to parenthood, or something else. That’s why at Tesco, we always welcome a conversation about flexible working. So, talk to us throughout your application about how we can support.

This role will promote and protect Tesco's local reputation and develop proactive communications plans to engage media and stakeholders across the Central region and Wales. It will drive the community narrative externally, creating opportunities to tell a positive story and demonstrate the impact of the work we do within our local communities. The role will help us build networks that will facilitate positive conversations with key stakeholders including representatives of the retail, property and charity sectors. You will maintain relationships with stores, colleagues and senior management across your coverage areas and work in the field in your area to represent the community team and provide guidance, support, liaise with local groups, projects and charities and seek out opportunities for positive engagement. You will help manage a PR agency team to assist in developing a pipeline of proactive stories, and with our key major charity partners working alongside them to develop campaigns which support the community plan. The role will also ensure our property development programmes are being communicated to the right stakeholders, supporting legal, planning and consultation requirements and communication to trade and property press.

Identifying a pipeline of relevant proactive opportunities in media or other channels to widen audience awareness of our community reach, partnerships, investments and role our stores play.

Developing and managing a communications plan that supports our proposed store growth across the UK and our readiness to acquire new sites.
