Rainbows Children's Hospice care for Babies, Children and Young People who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions as well as their families here at the Hospice, in hospitals and in the community in their family's home, allowing them to experience the amazing Rainbows experience on their doorstep, Rainbows wherever you are.

Families of babies, children, and young people with serious or terminal conditions are often overwhelmed by the challenge of caring for their children; the complexities of working with many professionals, services, and appointments; and the difficulties of maintaining family life and employment. That is why we are here to help families find a way through the stress and emotions by offering our services at home.

We are currently looking for a Deputy lead Nurse (Band 6) to join the amazing Hospice at Home team, supporting the development of rainbows in the home and being part of an ever-expanding development of the service for Babies, Children and Young People who are needing end of life or palliative care.

This role will require you to travel and work around the East Midlands, covering the 5 counties of Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire.

Hours of work will be 37.5 over 7 days with the occasional requirement to start early or finish later due to the needs of a family and the flexibility to do nights, upon discussion. There will also be the occasional need to be 'on call' when required by external community services in response to urgent referrals.

In this exciting new role, you will provide clinical care to Babies, Children and Young People who are at end of life within their own homes, to give parents/carers respite and support.

Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to): Managing and maintaining your own caseload across the East Midlands. Undertaking assessments and reviews of clinical care and support, whilst being perceptive to changing physical and emotional needs. Contribute to leadership, development, training, and planning. Leading and participating in appropriate initiatives to ensure delivery of strategic goals and objectives. Day to day line management of the team, including assisting in the appraisal and developmental reviews of staff to set objectives, goals and action plans identifying learning needs and training opportunities. Alongside the Lead Nurse maintain an overview of the day-to-day prioritisation of care arrangements for babies, children and young people receiving hospice at home, including on-call arrangements and 7 days a week service delivery. Ensure that staff are deployed appropriately and that communications with families and carers is consistent and of a high standard. Qualified RSCN/RN (Child Branch)/RNLD/RN (Adult branch) Significant post registration experience with children/young people Experience as a Band 6 Nurse Post-registration experience in children's palliative/end of life care Experience of managing employees Able to demonstrate a high standard of clinical care.
