Band 2 Community Phlebotomist - 0.8 WTE 30 hours a week. We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Community Phlebotomist to join our community nursing teams covering the Burton upon Trent area. You will be visiting patients in their own homes and residential care homes to undertake venepuncture. Excellent communication and time management skills are essential to coordinate your workload and work independently. Past experience and training in phlebotomy is preferred but not essential, as training will be provided. A car driver is required, as the post holder will need to travel between sites. Main duties of the job

The post holder will be visiting patients in the community area of Burton upon Trent to obtain blood samples. This role involves working with the District Nursing teams and managing your own diary and workload to meet service needs. You will: Demonstrate accurate and competent technique when taking blood samples, completing laboratory forms clearly with patient details and specifying tests requested. Deliver a high-quality venepuncture service in the community, considering the patient's physical, social, and emotional care needs. Monitor care programmes ensuring routine blood tests are carried out regularly and timely. Take appropriate action regarding any changes in a patient's condition, reporting to the appropriate person without delay. Undertake venepuncture for patients as requested by ILCT, GPs, and secondary care. Work without direct supervision, organizing your workload under pressure to accommodate appointment times. Maintain accurate records as required by Trust policy, demonstrating high-quality record-keeping skills. About us

Taking appropriate actions regarding changes in a patient's condition. Undertaking venepuncture for patients as requested by GPs and other professionals. Working independently while organizing your workload under pressure. Maintaining accurate records as required by Trust policy. Offering advice and information to patients and relatives when required. Taking responsibility for maintaining skills and knowledge for delivering a high-quality phlebotomy service. Participating in further training to demonstrate commitment to professional development. General

Ability to travel independently across the patch. Qualifications and Training

Experience in phlebotomy is preferred. Experience working within a health care setting with service users. NVQ level 2 with appropriate modules in health care. Experience

Community experience is preferred. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
