DCHS has an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 5 Community Public Health Nurse to join the 5-19 service within the Erewash Locality. On completion of the first year in post there will be the opportunity to apply to complete the training for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing qualification (SCPHN) School Nursing Pathway; you will be supported in your development towards this. We are able to offer a thorough, bespoke induction programme, supportive mentorship arrangements, regular clinical and safeguarding supervision as well as ensuring support with continuing professional development. This post presents an exciting opportunity to become part of the 5-19 team who are supported and guided by our service development lead. Our Public Health Nurses work with children and their families both in schools and in the home environment to improve health and social outcomes and make a real difference in a true multi-agency environment. Job responsibilities

You will be an integral member of the 5-19 team, supporting the Band 6 SCPHNs alongside other Community Staff Nurses in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme. Your key role will be to support the delivery of bespoke public health sessions in schools addressing identified high impact areas, care planning for children with specific health needs and providing advice and support to parents regarding physical and emotional health needs of their child. Education, Qualifications and Training

First level registered Nurse/ Children's Nurse. NMC registration Recent evidence of CPD To hold a full driving license or be able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Recognised teaching and assessing qualification Public health qualification or experience Experience and Knowledge Required

The ability to communicate effectively at a variety of levels. Planning and organisational skills Ability to set targets and work to deadlines Ability to work on own and as part of a team Ability to influence and motivate others. Understanding and awareness of the public health high impact areas and agenda Experience of working with children/young people on health-related issues. Knowledge of safeguarding children procedures Experience of delivering training Knowledge of national policies and procedures relevant to public health and service user groups Awareness of the principle of clinical governance / audit Clinical leadership skills Disclosure and Barring Service Check
