GLL is looking for a Community Sport Manager to work across our leisure and sport facilities in Welwyn/Hatfield. The primary role of a Community Sport Manager is to enable our communities to increase their participation in sport and leisure based activities, reducing inequalities and improving their physical health and mental well-being. The Community Sport Manager is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive Sports Development and Community Engagement plan for our sport and leisure facilities across Welwyn/Hatfield which considers the following principles: Participation: GLL aims to widen and deepen participation across all of our facilities. Reinvestment: GLL is a charitable social enterprise and reinvests surplus into our communities. Access: GLL ensures any barriers to activity in our venues and services are removed. Empowering communities: GLL connects and empowers communities to improve their physical, social, and mental well-being. The post will work with partners, communities, and leisure centre teams to establish pathways of opportunities for individuals and communities to achieve their potential, through using physical activity and sport to tackle cross-cutting issues such as health improvement and community development. The role will work with the leisure centres to ensure: Policies and systems are in place that support our customers and colleagues' health & well-being and ensure equality. A choice of products are available, tailored to meet the needs of all audience types. Products and services that are accessible at the right time, place, and price. Stakeholders and communities co-design, deliver, and promote services. Audiences & stakeholders are engaged, reinforcing GLL’s position as the leading charitable social enterprise in the leisure sector. You will be dealing with a range of people as diverse as school children, the elderly, religious and ethnic groups, so you will need to have excellent communication skills to relate to each type of person. Ideally, you will be degree level qualified and have experience in planning and leading community, health, or sport-based activities and programmes. Although working as part of a wider team, you will be expected to manage yourself and your own workload and will be self-sufficient. You will be comfortable dealing with stakeholders at all levels and adept at giving presentations. A creative thinker, you will thrive on devising new initiatives to work with the community to foster their participation in leisure activities.
