Complementary Therapist

C1 £26,043.78 to C3 £28,862.91 - pro rata for part time hours

The Complementary Therapist reports into the Inpatient Unit Manager and is responsible for providing a high standard of complementary therapy service on the Inpatient Unit, and across the hospice where appropriate.

Qualifications

Level 3 qualifications in two or more of the following: Massage, Aromatherapy, Reiki, Reflexology, crystal therapy, oncology massage

Evidence of Continuous Professional Development

Diploma Level in Aromatherapy & Reflexology, Massage

Membership of Professional Organisation, e.g. Federation of Holistic Therapies (FHT)

Knowledge and Experience

Extensive experience in complementary therapy in a variety of settings

Evidence of continued professional development

Demonstrated ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team and work independently

Demonstrates sound clinical practice knowledge appropriate to Specialist Palliative Care level practice, in Palliative Care, Oncology or Community setting

Experience of ensuring continuous improvement

Previous experience of working in a hospice and/or health and social care environment

Experience in palliative care or life limiting conditions

Experience and competence in handling situations of grief and loss and patient advocating

Highly developed physical skills including dexterity, coordination & sensory skills for assessment and manual treatment of patients

An ability to prioritise and organise own workload

Ability and skills to provide student and staff supervision and mentorship

Ability to provide and receive complex, sensitive and contentious information

Teaching, assessment and presentation skills

Advanced IT skills

Ability to manage a busy workload

Ability to problem solve and respond to queries

Personal Attributes

Able to work under pressure

Other Requirements

Valid driving licence

Eligibility to work in the UK

Please note that St Giles Hospice does not hold a sponsorship licence and is therefore unable to accept sponsorship requests
