We are looking to fill a Sustainability and Compliance role to work within the Technical division of the business, providing sustainable credentials, support with regulations, and compliance of toys, clothing, furniture, and a variety of softlines and hardlines products. This newly created role is ideal for someone eager to make a significant contribution to our sustainability and compliance programme by working with colleagues and associates to meet sustainability targets and regulatory requirements by implementing new processes. The candidate will be keen to make the role their own and explore the opportunities of the role’s potential scope. The role will involve managing 6 key areas: Sustainability Roadmap Supplier Auditing Product Compliance Packaging Compliance Traceability Programme Marketplace Compliance Key Responsibilities: Drive sustainability initiatives, working closely with colleagues and stakeholders, and ensure the key elements of the program are implemented appropriately. Instigate and manage new & existing sustainable certification standards. Ensure Personalisation Techniques comply with certification standards to complement and enhance products. Lead efforts to improve our environmental footprint. Oversee the auditing program including the prequalification of new supplier factories, ongoing auditing and monitoring of existing suppliers. Management and administration of databases and dashboards for reporting compliance and regulatory metrics. Devise and instigate supplier performance reviews. Conduct regular audits, risk assessments, and inspections to address compliance issues related to manufacturing, sourcing, and supply chain management. Obtain and review relevant compliance documentation and maintain supply chain certifications. Stay updated on relevant legislation and industry standards in UK, EU, US & Gulf States. Work with supply chain partners to implement and maintain sustainable product sourcing. Collate data for Digital Product Passports ensuring compliance with all necessary legal and regulatory requirements, including planning, scheduling, and tracking milestones and deliverables. Develop, implement, and manage compliance programs to ensure adherence to regulations, such as UKCA, CPSC, GCC, EUDR and more. Manage and maintain accreditations. Maintain and monitor supplier due diligence. Liaise with 3rd party regulatory associates and prepare necessary reports and documentation. Obtain and submit data to online regulatory portals. Support initiatives around supply chain mapping. Collate Declarations of Compliance for all product areas in line with relevant regulations. We require: A passion for sustainability and environmental initiatives. Ability to communicate confidently at all levels, with professionalism and commitment. High level of administration and team support ability in a fast-paced environment. Excellent analytical and data management skills. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail across all technical / compliance platforms. Able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Data gathering through supplier contact and building relationships with CSR peers. Keen attitude to diversifying and learning. The ability to adapt to changing priorities. Communication skills and ability to effectively translate sustainability practices and regulatory requirements and across the business and supply base. Beneficial attributes of interest but not essential: Experience with the key product areas relevant to the role. Knowledge of regulations within key product areas, eg Toys Safety Directive Knowledge or experience of traceability and chain of custody within the supply chain. Understanding of packaging waste regulations (plastics and paper). Knowledge or interest in social and environmental responsibilities.
