Job Summary Our school in Bury is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to ensure our health and safety policies, practices, and documentation are robust, up-to-date, and fully compliant. This role will initially operate on a temporary basis from December through February, with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will play a critical role in upholding a safe and compliant school environment, focusing on maintaining and auditing health and safety records, and ensuring all regulations are strictly followed. Key Responsibilities Health & Safety Compliance: Audit existing health and safety files, documentation, and processes to ensure they meet current legislation and school policies. Identify any gaps or areas for improvement in health and safety records and work with staff to implement necessary changes. Ensure risk assessments are current and complete for all school activities, areas, and equipment. Conduct regular checks of school facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and organised health and safety records and ensure easy access for relevant staff members. Prepare regular compliance reports for the school leadership team, highlighting any areas of concern or non-compliance. Ensure compliance documentation is consistently updated to reflect any regulatory or procedural changes. Staff Training & Support: Assist in organising health and safety training sessions for staff to ensure all are aware of compliance obligations. Serve as a point of contact for staff questions or concerns regarding health and safety practices. Promote a culture of safety awareness and support staff in understanding their responsibilities. Person Specification Essential Criteria Proven experience in a compliance or health and safety role, ideally within an educational or public sector environment. Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation and regulations. Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with school staff at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with compliance management systems. Desirable Criteria NEBOSH or IOSH certification in Health and Safety (or equivalent qualification). Familiarity with the specific health and safety requirements in a school setting. Why Join Us?
