Our organisation was created in 1990 as a vendor of integrated modelling software to the energy industry. Since then, we have built up a hugely successful business with more than 450 clients across the world, ranging from small consultancies to major multinational corporations. In our last trading year, the company turned over £66m and has significant cash reserves which are to be held for future expansion. In this regard, we see an exciting future which embraces the challenges around energy transition technologies and renewables. In addition, we see huge scope in applying the lessons that we have learnt within this industry to other sectors, notably mining, banking, renewable energy, and medicine. With this in mind the company is on the cusp of a major expansion. Part of this involves the relocation of the headquarters of PE Limited (Petex) from Edinburgh to Guildford in Surrey, to take advantage of the improved travel links, recruitment possibilities, and links to London. Our Guildford office is open as of September 2024, and is set to become the company headquarters in September 2025. Package

We offer an exceptional and highly competitive package which includes an annual performance bonus, an excellent pension to which the company will match up to 10% of all employee contributions, private health and dental insurance, and other benefits. About this Vacancy

Petex is looking for a motivated individual to join the Contracts & Licensing Department in our new Guildford office. In the role of Compliance Officer, you will work closely with your colleagues to ensure compliance with domestic regulations as well as the requirements of our international client base. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to shape all aspects of compliance. This is very much a hands-on position where you will learn by doing the job rather than following a formal training program. You will initially be involved with: Primary responsibilities: Proactively researching industry regulations and providing in-depth analysis and guidance to the company with respect to said regulations. Overseeing, updating, and developing Petex’s compliance policies and internal controls, including in the areas of Health & Safety, and Data Protection/GDPR, in accordance with current rules and regulations. Providing high-quality and informed responses to requests in relation to freedom of information and data protection. Managing external client compliance requirements such as vendor registrations and due diligence required for complex tender submissions. Managing and developing Petex’s Know Your Customer (KYC) process. Monitoring exposure to regulatory risk, preparing remedial actions to address issues and close gaps as appropriate, and discussing with senior management. Implementing and supporting the provision of staff training on regulatory issues. Promoting and embedding a positive ethical culture within the business unit. Maintaining accurate records of compliance activities. Providing ad-hoc assistance and support to clients and colleagues to achieve the goals of the company. Qualifications

To succeed you will need to demonstrate: Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar or legal role, with proven knowledge of regulatory policies. Excellent teamworking and communication skills. Exceptional organisational skills and high attention to detail. Ability to apply knowledge to operational environments. A willingness to help clients and colleagues to achieve the goals of the company.
