More about the role:
  • Newbury Catering is the joint venture with Levy UK, which manages and operates all event catering, hospitality and retail services at Newbury Racecourse. This is a, relatively, new contract and is a joint venture with Newbury Racing, a privately owned company
  • As our Raceday Operations Manager you will be responsible for Raceday Hospitality and Retail and C&E
  • You will be required to directly manage the day-to-day delivery and lead the C&E Operational Team on a day to day basis and will be responsible for the development of people and product. The C&E market caters for conferences of up to 500pax and banqueting for up to 450 pax. The successful applicant will be required to show experience within this market
  • Racedays vary in size and can be from 1,500 to 20,000 with hospitality numbers up to 2,000+ across various restaurants and private boxes. The role on racedays would be as a key area manger taking direction from The Operations Manager and/or Retail Manager
About you:
  • Proven F&B delivery experience in a C&E environment. Preferably this will have been in managing events in excess of 200 pax. An exposure to a sporting environment, especially Racing, will be an advantage
  • Passionate about food and hospitality, with a natural flare for guest focus and quality of experience at all levels
  • Demonstrates passion and hunger for ensuring an exceptional hospitality experience
  • Passionate about people - enjoys communicating with the most important of clients as well as the all-important team members that deliver great service day to day
  • Respected for leadership skills - confidently able to appoint, develop and inspire large high performing teams of both fixed and variable staff. Can demonstrate provision of clear and decisive direction
  • Excellent client and stakeholder management presence and interpersonal skills. Well versed in clarifying client and customer requirements. Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills, including delivering concise and engaging presentations. Known for collaborative approach. Natural and engaging in dialogue with customers at all levels
  • Professional integrity - naturally commands respect and delivers on promises
  • Dynamic and measured - good blend of 'can do', pace and a calm head under pressure
