The Department of Anaesthesia gained ACSA accreditation in 2021. The Critical Care Unit at Bradford Royal Infirmary has 8 level 3 and 8 level 2 beds, used flexibly to support high-risk elective and emergency surgical specialties, including vascular, as well as critically ill medical patients. This busy unit operates at greater than 85% occupancy and admits over 1000 patients each year, within the West Yorkshire Critical Care Operational Delivery Network. Main Duties of the Job

This post provides anaesthetic services for various surgical specialties as outlined in the timetable. Bradford Teaching Hospitals caters for all surgical specialties except major cardiothoracic, neurosurgery, and transplant surgery. Emergency Duties The Department of Anaesthetics has two Consultant Anaesthetists on call each night, one covering the Critical Care Unit and one covering acute theatre work and Obstetrics. Clinical Duties The post holder will maintain the highest clinical standards in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, work closely with colleagues to share anaesthetic advice, and collaborate with medical and nursing staff to improve and advance the service. Responsibilities also include teaching and training trainees, junior medical staff, nursing staff, primary care colleagues, and medical students, ensuring active participation in continuing professional development (CPD), and providing flexible cover for annual leave. The post holder will support the General Anaesthesia services within Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based in the Anaesthetics Department carrying out general Anaesthetic duties. General Duties The duties of the post may change over time in light of changing requirements of the Anaesthetic Service, subject to the agreement of the post holder. Person Specification

Experience

Evidence of completing a period of approved training in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Qualifications

MBChB or equivalent, FRCA or equivalent, Member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (UK) or equivalent, CCT or within 6 months of AAC date, on Specialist Register with GMC and continue to hold a licence to practice Disclosure and Barring Service Check
