Job summary We have an opportunity for the correct candidate to be appointed to the role of Consultant in Anaesthetics with an interest in Obstetrics. This post will be based Cross Site. There are St Helier and Epsom based sessions incorporated into the job plan. On Call duties are 1 in 12 delivered at St Helier Hospital. The successful candidate must be dedicated to the pursuit of excellence always placing the patient first. Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 420,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey. In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care to a wider area covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire. AAC Interview Date: Monday 17th March 2025 Main duties of the job The Epsom & St Helier Anaesthetic department is aligned with the STG teaching programme for medical students and the South Thames School of Anaesthesia training programme. There is a well established Simulation teaching programme which may give opportunities for suitably qualified applicants. We score highly in national Hip Fracture audit data and are one of the busiest 5 units in London. We have a dedicated daycase Paediatric Hospital with visiting Surgeons from St Georges and a very busy Obstetric Unit which accepts outside referrals. Qualifications Essential GMC registration Entry onto GMC or within 6 months of CESR ALS training 6 months SIA/Stage 3 Obstetrics training or equivalent Stage 3 paediatric anaesthesia training or equivalent Stage 3 in airway anaesthesia Desirable Specialist interest in sub specialties Clinical Experience Essential Stage 3/SIA broad experience in delivering peri operative medicine for high risk patients Stage 4 broad range of delivering anaesthesia for elective and emergency surgery Teaching Experience Essential Stage 3 teaching experience for undergraduate and post graduate trainees Stage 3 SIA in airway management skills Desirable Experience of supervising Junior Doctors
