Consultant Cellular Pathologist

We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Histopathologist to contribute to the delivery and development of Histopathology services within an innovative NHS Trust. This Trust is recognized as “Outstanding” by the CQC and is a collaborating partner of the exemplar NHS England pathology network, Berkshire & Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS). Applications are invited for a whole-time (10 PAs, of which 8.5 are DCC and 1.5 are SPA) Consultant Histopathologist post that requires sound knowledge, skills and experience in general histopathology reporting and MDT work, particularly with a sub-specialty interest in at least one of breast, haematopathology, skin, urology, gynae and GI. The post is based at East Surrey Hospital in Redhill, which is the main acute site for Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH), but has active working collaborations with the Surrey Cancer Centre at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and other acute sites across the BSPS network. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a team established for 10 consultants. The main laboratory is at the Royal Surrey County hub, with cut-up and reporting being retained at East Surrey Hospital. A programme to roll out digital pathology imaging across the BSPS network is currently in progress. There are opportunities for flexible working, including from home and at other hospital sites in the network, as well as for developing a role in clinical leadership, coronial work and academic, teaching and research activity through the Trust's active R&D department and its associations with Brighton & Sussex Medical School and the University of Surrey.
