Exciting opportunity to complete our expansion of the Community Child Health Team in Cornwall.

We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor who will be a proactive addition to our workforce and who is interested in taking the service forward, with our close links with our hospital colleagues and medical school.

We need a community paediatrician to work with specialty doctors across the county. We are looking to diversify the service and are open to new ideas.

You will become a valued member of our team of 6 Consultants and 5 SAS grade doctors who work closely together to see children throughout Cornwall.

We invite applicants with specific SPINS/interests in different areas to build and develop our service for the future.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the Community Child Health team taking consultant responsibility for children with Neuro-disability across Cornwall. In addition, there is the opportunity to further develop our service. Once the post holder is appointed, there will be opportunity to revise job planning as part of ongoing service reorganisation.

The post includes a commitment to the Child Protection Day and On-call rota (extended hours commitment 0700-1900). There is no commitment to the acute on-call rota.

Applicants are required to be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT/EU equivalent certification at the time of interview.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Full GMC registration, Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR or European Community Rights An appropriate higher paediatric qualification Desirable Completed GRID training in Community Paediatrics and appropriate CCT Epilepsy PET training 1,2 and 3 Experience Essential Teaching - Medical students, junior doctors, peers, and MDT Experienced in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance and able to demonstrate this is embedded in clinical practice Practical and intellectual Skills Essential Strong Clinical and personal credibility with significant clinical experience/training in community Paediatrics Experience and recognised training in Safeguarding. Experience in assessing, formulating opinions and report writing to support child protection and working with wider safeguarding teams Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Excellent IT Skills Conceptual and analytical Skills Speaks fluent English to at least I.E.L.R.S level 7.5 Desirable Knowledge and experience of social paediatrics Specific experience or national accreditation in Neuro-disability and Epilepsy Experience or national recognised training in Court work Ability and experience in chairing multi-agency meetings
