As part of this, the post holder will have the opportunity of having a more senior consultant as a mentor. The post holder will have consultant and RC responsibility for a defined caseload of service users under the care of the Barnet West Core Community Mental Health Team. The post holder will provide assessment of new patients and clinical supervision of assessments carried out by other team members, making formulations using a biopsychosocial model. Ensuring evidence-based practice that is patient-centered in recovery principles. The post holder will provide clinical and professional leadership in the Team and will take part in management activities related to the post and the wider service within which it is embedded. Service development and quality improvement in line with the Trust's vision, values, and objectives are core responsibilities. The post holder is expected to maintain compliance with all legal obligations as prescribed by the Mental Health Act (MHA) and the Ministry of Justice. The Trust is committed to the implementation of the annual consultant appraisal, outlined in the NHS Executive Advance Letters (MD) 6/00 and (MD) 5/01. The Trust uses the L2P software for the appraisal process. Appraisal and revalidation lead is Dr Koye Odutoye. The Responsible Officer for revalidation is Dr Vincent Kirchner. Consultants joining the Trust will be offered a formal job planning meeting within three months of joining the workforce. Job planning meetings are held by the presence of the clinical director (and service director if appropriate) with a job plan being reached collaboratively between the post holder, their line manager, and the service director. The Trust is committed to annual reviews of job plans with a view to ensure that job plans are realistic and offer a productive balance between clinical care, service development needs, and personal developmental goals of the post-holder. Consultants joining the Trust will participate in a two-day trust-wide induction.
