NHS CONSULTANT HISTOPATHOLOGY VACANCY We are proud to have been appointed by an "Outstanding" rated NHS Foundation Trust in the western Home Counties areas to help them recruit a Consultant Histopathologist on either a Substantive or a 12 month NHS Fixed Term basis. This Trust has been rated “Outstanding” in its 2018 CQC report and was ranked the number one place to complete foundation training in 2017. This Trust has a successful track record of delivering high quality acute medical and surgical services for over 500,000 patients and is one of the largest general hospital Trusts in the county. The hospital provides all those services normally associated with a very large District General Hospital and provides services on a single site for all major specialties. The Trust has in place a Clinically Led structure placing the decision making responsibilities with Clinicians supported by management teams. The Department of Cellular Pathology is located on a new site at the local University, which is 25min walk or 5min car journey from the main hospital site, which will only need to be visited if autopsy practice is to be accommodated. The new pathology lab is fully refurbished and will accommodate two hospital laboratory workloads. This Department of Cellular Pathology provides a diagnostic service for the NHS Trust and local GP's. The annual workload consists of approx: 28,000 Surgical Histopathology Specimens (of which approx 20% are from GP's) 450 Post Mortems (mainly coronial cases) 2,500 Non-gynaecological Cytology specimens (including 2,000 fine needle aspirates) Additional Information: Excellent leadership 10PA 1.5 SPA for personal CME, audit and revalidation requirements including departmental meetings Additional SPA's may be allocated for specific agreed objective for the Trust State-of-the-art Laboratories Outstanding nearby schools 30 Days study leave in a 3 year cycle This is a Consultant Histopathology vacancy which requires GMC registration and a minimum FRCPath part II.
