You will join our multi-disciplinary acute medicine team delivering consultant led acute medical care for all of the patients presenting with medical problems to North Bristol NHS Trust. As part of the consultant rota, you will be responsible for running and supervising the acute take, SDEC, the enhanced care unit, and AMU. As a Consultant in Acute Medicine, you will: Lead the diagnosis and clinical management of patients presenting to the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) unit at Southmead Hospital. Provide regular ward rounds and clinical support to patients, alongside the junior medical team, ensuring high standards of patient care. Collaborate closely with colleagues across specialties to ensure a cohesive, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Participate fully in the Acute Medicine rota, including early and late shifts, weekend cover (1 in 8 for 1 WTE), and Same Day Emergency Care shifts. Actively promote the work of the Acute Medical Unit and support Trust priorities around improving patient flow and reducing admissions. Be involved in teaching, audit, governance, and research within the AMU. Provide professional supervision and mentorship to junior medical staff, contributing to their development and the overall educational environment of the unit. Person Specification

Experience of UK hospital systems and practices 4 years postgraduate experience including higher surgical/medical training, three years as a Senior Registrar in an approved training post Training in diagnosis and treatment of the full range of acute medical conditions. Evidence of recent CME/ reasonable training progression at this stage of career. Experience in audit project and written up Knowledge of contemporary NHS management issues.
