Velindre University NHS Trust are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity! We are looking for a Consultant Oncologist (Medical or Clinical) with an interest in Breast to join a cohesive and committed team. This is an exciting time for Velindre University NHS Trust with a brand-new cancer centre in construction in Cardiff and the development of a Cancer Research and complex oncology Hub in close collaboration with University Hospital of Wales and Cardiff University. In addition, we have a regional outreach programme including a Radiotherapy Satellite Centre in Aneurin Bevan UHB (Nevill Hall Hospital) opening in Spring 2025. When complete, the new Velindre Cancer Centre will be a world class facility which provides specialist tertiary oncology services to patients across Southeast Wales. It will also be an exemplar healthcare facility which demonstrates what patient led, sustainable design can achieve; with an all-electric solution supporting the achievement of BREEAM excellent. The post holder will have an opportunity to collaborate with existing research projects and lead future research, service development and educational initiatives, supported by the SST. The post holder will support the Cwm Taff Morgannwg University Health Board and Cardiff and Vale University Health Board as a core member of the MDT, covering the management of cancer patients from MDT referral through to treatment. This is an exciting time for you to join Velindre NHS Trust and you will have the opportunity to deliver a service at the new Velindre Cancer Centre (nVCC) in Cardiff, which will be a world class facility providing specialist tertiary oncology services to patients across Southeast Wales. Construction of the new centre is underway, and we are scheduled to open in Spring 2027. Qualifications

GMC Specialist Register with one of the following:- i. CCT within 6 months of interview ii. CESR iii. European Community Rights Research degree ( MD, PhD or equivalent) Experience

Site specialist interest in breast cancer. Experience of MDT decision making Independent prescribing of SACT for breast cancer. Acute Oncology on call experience (junior level, supervised) Teaching Experience Recent site specialist interest in breast cancer. Acute Oncology Service experience (senior level) Experience of recruitment to clinical trials. Skills

Team Working Understanding of research methods and prior experience of clinical research trials. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to communicate sensitively with patients, relatives and staff Attendance on teaching and/or clinical management course. Knowledge

Site specialist knowledge in breast cancer. Knowledge of general management of acute toxicities of SACT and radiotherapy. Specialist management of acute oncological emergencies including immunotherapy toxicities. Personal attributes
