We are looking for a new colleague to join our expanding team of substantive consultants based in North Wales. We are currently seeking Clinical Oncologist Consultants in various sub-specialties to strengthen our workforce and provide the best care to the people of North Wales. The Cancer Division is undergoing changes and is keen to embrace new models of working and innovation. We have recently welcomed Physician’s Associates and increasing numbers of Advanced Nurse Practitioners. The successful candidate will be based in Glan Clwyd Hospital, with an on-call element to the role on a 1 in 8 basis. Main duties of the job
Provide specialist oncological services with a focus on common cancers and agreed oncology subspecialties. Develop a site specialist and research interest on both hospital sites, including clinical research. Conduct regular ward rounds for oncology inpatients. Collaborate with clinical consultant colleagues to provide seamless cancer care. Assist in providing efficient service for patients transferring between disciplines. Liaise with oncology, haematology, and palliative care colleagues for inpatient cover. Participate in collaborative initiatives with a focus on clinical effectiveness and evidence-based medicine. Qualifications / Clinical Skills
Inclusion on Specialist Register or eligibility within 6 months if in training. CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC). Special Knowledge / Abilities / and / or experience
Experience in training grade posts at SpR/SR level. Equivalent training accepted by Royal College / GMC. Personal Skills / Qualities
Good interpersonal skills with patients and team members. Ability to gain confidence and trust. Ability to cope with pressure and respond to change. Leadership skills for directing and teaching medical and nursing staff. Participation in and leading multidisciplinary teams. Research
Encourages research with junior and other staff. Additional Requirements
Commitment to personal development and medical education. Enhanced CRB disclosure. Ability to educate and train junior medical staff. Excellent communication skills.
