To provide, with consultant colleagues (as appropriate), a service in Adult General Community Psychiatry and support the development of sub-specialty interests to the hospitals and community so designated, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness.
Main duties of the job
Clinical
To share the responsibility for the care of adult community mental health patients at secondary care level throughout Ammanford and Towy Valley CMHT area. To support the development and delivery of the community mental health service in the community. To provide Consultant Psychiatrist and Responsible Clinician input to inpatients from the Ammanford and Towy Valley CMHT locality. To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements within the parameters of the Division's and Health Board's agreed objectives. Job responsibilities
The successful candidate for this Consultant post will be eligible to hold an Honorary Academic title at a partner university on the understanding that they will participate in undergraduate teaching, including acting as an examiner, and support and facilitate research activities in an appropriate university faculty and school. They will take direction in these activities via the appropriate academic lead. The agreement to define the Honorary Academic responsibilities and associated programmed activities in relation to teaching time and research will be negotiated jointly between the post holder, the university, and the Health Board. The award of the Honorary Academic contract will be dependent upon a formal application being submitted to the university in accordance with the Honorary Appointments procedures and will be available on a fixed-term basis subject to satisfactory performance in the academic activity undertaken. Full GMC Registration and Licence to Practice On Specialist Register with GMC or CCT due within 6 months of interview date Or CESR or equivalent European Qualifications for Specialist Registration MRCPsych or FRCPsych or other Valid Certified Advanced Life Support Skills Approved Clinician Status Section 12 approved Desirable
Appropriate Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD or MSc or equivalent Clinical Experience
