Consultant Endocrinologist

based at Ninewells Hospital & Medical School in Dundee. This post is to enhance the delivery and development of endocrine services to the population of Tayside with additional requirements to deliver acute unscheduled care within the Acute Medical Unit. Applicants should have established skills in endocrinology with relevant experience in subspecialty areas such as pituitary disease, adrenal disease, reproductive or young adult/transitional endocrinology, although the applicant will have the opportunity to develop such subspecialty interests. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to maintain skills in diabetes depending on experience and clinical need. Strong generalist skills are required for both the delivery of specialty outpatient clinics and acute unscheduled care. As a teaching hospital, the applicant should demonstrate a strong commitment to Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching. Strong links with the University of Dundee bring opportunities for the development of research interests. Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share. There is an option for two Extra Programmed Activities (EPAs) to support research activity. Interviews will be held on

Shortlisted candidates will be required to give a 10-minute presentation on: “What is the role of the Consultant Endocrinologist in the modern NHS” You must be registered with the General Medical Council and hold a Licence to Practice. The successful applicant should possess MRCP and be included on the Specialist Register for Endocrinology/Diabetes plus General or Acute Internal Medicine or within 6 months of CCT, or already in possession of CESR (CP) at the date of interview for the post.
