Full time
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Gastroenterology with General (Internal) Medicine at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston (UHBW). The main site for this post is Weston General Hospital but as we move to full clinical service integration across UHBW, it is anticipated that there will be some element of cross-site working with Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI), to be determined through the job planning process.

The post is advertised as a 10 PA post, but candidates wishing to be considered for a position with additional or fewer sessions are welcome to apply. The appointment of this position will be part of the 1:11 current consultant on call rota.

Applicants must be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their CCT and ideally have NHS experience. However, non-UK applicants wishing to apply for specialist registration could be considered on a fixed-term basis.

As well as joining a welcoming, talented team in a beautiful town, we offer: Competitive recruitment and retention incentives of up to £20,000 (over three years). Relocation allowance and support of up to £8000 (in line with Trust Relocation Policy).

The successful candidate will develop special interests to extend the spectrum of the gastroenterology services offered at Weston and support services currently being developed in the department. The post holder will undertake a total of two general gastroenterology clinics per week and support the endoscopy service with both upper and lower endoscopy procedures. Weston General Hospital is JAG accredited and is proud to have retained this for over 10 years. We pride ourselves on providing an exceptional service. There will be inpatient responsibility for the gastroenterology ward on a 1:3 rotational basis. The post includes a commitment to the emergency endoscopy rota (1:6) plus the G(I)M on-call rota out of hours (1:11).

University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, with a workforce of over 13,000 staff and 100+ different clinical services across 10 sites, serving a population of over 500,000 people across Bristol and Weston. As a forward-thinking multi-award winning Trust, committed to improving patient care, our world-leading research and innovations are having a positive local and global impact.

Join us and you can enjoy city living, be in the countryside or by the seaside, with easy access to all the South West has to offer. UHBW is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

As an equal opportunities employer, actively working towards a diverse workforce, we aim to create a workforce that represents the diversity of our community and are committed to designing our services around the needs of patients and their loved ones.
