These are 3 substantive posts based at the Lister Hospital in Stevenage. This is an excellent opportunity to join the team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful candidates will jointly manage patients in a newly created 24-bedded general medical ward. This is the designated clinical area for managing patients with acute medical complex presentations, often in association with known oncological/haematological malignancies. Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will provide named Consultant care to medical outliers on surgical wards during periods of increased in-patient activity. During non-ward weeks, the post holders will deliver specialty outpatient clinics, which is flexible according to the post holders' specialty training. The core role will involve delivering in-patient care on a 24-bedded ward jointly shared between 2 consultants, along with some medical outlier patient care commitments. The patients will be a mix of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and those with ongoing oncology or haematology conditions presenting with inter-current illnesses. Leading complex MDT discussions on ongoing care and making advanced care planning decisions will be essential. The intention is to have a 3 Consultant Team covering this clinical area with sessions available to deliver specialty outpatient work or sessions within acute medicine, or sessions as feasible working at Addenbrooke's with the Infectious Disease Team. There will be an expectation to contribute to the Physician of the Day rota for unselected medical take on weekdays and weekends. About Us

Previous Experience
Broad range of experience in acute and general medicine, fully competent in the management of the acute medical take and inpatients, and MDT working. Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training, and other colleagues. Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinions. Evidence of leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice. Demonstrable experience in a Locum Consultant role. Skills
Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and learning from them. Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation. Qualifications/Training
Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at the time of interview, or provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register. MRCP or qualification of an equivalent level. Advanced Life Support or ability to achieve ALS immediately upon appointment. Evidence of being up to date and fit to practice, and aware of own training needs. College Fellowship. Disclosure and Barring Service Check
