We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Histopathology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Pathology department.

Our client is currently offering an excellent opportunity within the Pathology department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful applicant will form part of the Trust's pathology department and will be a part of a team of 8 consultants providing a comprehensive Cellular Pathology service. The department provides a comprehensive range of services for our resident population of approximately 500,000. Our client has undergone one of the most complex service reconfigurations in the NHS – both to deadline and budget. Under the banner of the ‘Our changing hospitals' programme, this saw an investment of £150 million to transform the hospital into the trust's specialist emergency and inpatient hospital serving the local people.

The successful appointee will be asked to fulfil various responsibilities within the department, including: Maintenance of high quality patient-centered care Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings when needed and directorate clinical governance activity Active participation in continuing medical education along with helping the service support the various clinical specialties, which include: Breast cancer service General Surgery Upper GI Surgery Colo-rectal Surgery Urology Ophthalmology Plastic Surgery Orthopaedics Gastroenterology Gynaecology & Obstetrics (including active colposcopy units) ENT Dermatology Respiratory Medicine Care of the elderly Paediatrics Rheumatology
