We have a fabulous opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed Consultant to join us in the Intensive Care department at Salford Royal Hospital. The post includes planned clinical sessions at both Salford Critical Care and Bury Critical Care units. On call provision will be required at the Salford site. We would welcome applications from: Trainees who have completed a dual CCT in ICM. Consultants in ICM/Anesthesia. GMC registered doctors who have completed a CESR in ICM. Trainees currently training in ICM and Anesthesia. Applicants who would like to work in Intensive Care medicine as a single specialty. Applicants who would like to work in both ICM and a partner specialty. All applicants must be included on the Specialist Register or be eligible to be included on the specialist register within 6 months of the interview date. As part of the transformation of Critical Care, there is an emphasis on delivering a sustainable & motivated workforce, recognising that a good work-life balance is of paramount importance. The successful applicant will join our existing team of 29 Consultant intensivists. The Salford Critical Care unit is a mixed general and Neuroscience facility which admits more than 2000 patients each year and is housed within the new 'Hope Building' which offers state of the art facilities. The post holder will be expected to join the multidisciplinary team which delivers high quality consultant-led care to critically ill patients in the Organisation. Due to the changes being implemented to the critical care service, it is expected the post-holder has an interest in, and experience of, quality improvement and change management. FFICM A CCT in ICM Evidence of involvement in QI To be formally recognized as Clinical Supervisor as defined by the GMC Trainer Standards A formal qualification in Quality Improvement To be formally recognized as Educational Supervisor as defined by the GMC Trainer Standards Clinical Knowledge & Expertise

Experience of working in a large ICU in an NHS hospital as part of a recognized training program. Experience in the management of critically ill patients with a wide range of disease processes Evidence of recent management of critically ill patients with neurological conditions particularly head injury and sub-arachnoid hemorrhage Evidence of continuing personal and professional development and keeps up-to-date with medical advances. Knowledge and appreciation of the core legal, ethical and political issues which govern medical practice Understanding of the management responsibilities of NHS Consultants Experience of recent and current research/ relevant publications. Evidence of management activity during training. Formal leadership qualification Understanding of relationship between local initiatives and national policy. Evidence of experience in quality improvement Safety
