An opportunity has arisen to join our Neurology team at Colchester hospital in the Specialist Medicine CDG. ENEFT recognises that neurology patients have some of the most challenging and complex illnesses. With this in mind, the Trust wants to invest in and develop its neurology services, creating a centre of excellence. We are inviting applications for a full time Neurology Consultant, with flexible working and part time options will be considered. Applications from those with specialist interests in Epilepsy or Liaison Neurology would be particularly welcomed. We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to come and work within our Neurology team at Colchester hospital. We are looking for someone who can work closely with the management team to help drive our service forward and support with our integration across the region and keen to develop a specialist service. The Neurology department at Colchester has a budget for 4 consultants and we have six specialist nurses (two in Epilepsy, two in Multiple Sclerosis & two in Parkinson's Disease). We also have strong links with the Neuro rehab and Neuro physiology team. Together, the Neurology staff provide a wide variety of outpatient clinics at Colchester Hospital. Demand for neurology outpatient services has been rising steadily over the past decade and the service currently sees approximately 3600 new patients each year. All consultants contribute to the general Neurology outpatient service, which includes a fast-track pathway for patients with suspected seizures. In addition, there are subspecialty clinics for patients. About us

Job responsibilities

All consultants in the department have a continuing and individual responsibility for the care of patients in their charge and a general responsibility to provide, in conjunction with their colleagues, an effective service to meet the needs of the local population, within the resources available. The post-holder will: Work with colleagues to provide a consultant-led service with the highest standard of care Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines Develop and maintain good working practices within wards, outpatients and A&E Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues in tertiary centres, community services and primary care Offer support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursing colleagues and other members of the multi-disciplinary team Have an interest in developing a specialist service, which compliments the activities of the existing specialist nurses. Person Specification

MRCP or equivalent Full GMC Registration On the Specialist Register for Neurology (or to be eligible for entry within 6 months of application) Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCST in Neurology Research experience/ Higher degree MD/ PhD Disclosure and Barring Service Check
