This is an exciting opportunity to join our current team of eleven consultants in a friendly & supportive department, leading and delivering Women's health services in beautiful central North Wales. This is a full time substantive post in obstetrics & gynaecology, with a focus on obstetric scanning / fetal medicine. There is a contribution to the non-resident on-call rota for both obstetrics and gynaecology. This is a replacement post but with a particular emphasis on supporting and developing obstetric scanning services and training on site. This supports the recent opening of the Subregional Neonatal Intensive Care centre (SuRNICC), and the centralisation of specialized neonatal & perinatal services across North Wales on the Glan Clwyd Hospital site. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to develop & lead perinatal services, the department is interested in supporting the development of links & networking with neighbouring specialized services. The post will be based at Glan Clwyd Hospital in central North Wales. The post is advertised as 10 sessions per week, additional sessions may be available by mutual agreement, and less than full time may be considered for a suitable candidate. Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be expected to participate within the non-resident third on-call rota, which is currently 1:8 weekday nights and 1 in 10 weekends, with prospective cover for leave. There will be a commitment to undertake general obstetrics & gynaecology work. In addition, this is a new post specifically aiming to support the development of the high-risk obstetric & perinatal service on site, and specifically to develop consultant obstetric scanning / fetal medicine service on site. This will support the increased complexity of cases resulting from the recent opening of the Sub Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Centre for North Wales (SuRNICC) at Glan Clwyd Hospital. The appointed consultant will be expected to work in conjunction with other fetal medicine colleagues in North Wales and to develop close links with relevant tertiary centres such as Liverpool, Manchester & Cardiff. Experience

Appropriate experience in training grade posts leading to accreditation for UK CCST or recognised equivalent (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of interview) Equivalent training accepted by College/GMC for Specialist Register (CESR) Experience of working in busy tertiary units at Registrar level or higher CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC). Additional higher medical / scientific degree relevant to specialty Knowledge / Qualification

Inclusion on Specialist Register of GMC or eligible for award of CCST, CESR or recognised equivalent within 6 months of interview date Obstetric Ultrasound qualification ATSM in Advanced Labour Ward Practice ATSM's relevant to post; ATSM Labour Ward Lead Subspecialty training in Maternal & Fetal medicine Clinical experience and effectiveness

Clinical training and experience in general obstetrics and Gynaecology equivalent to that required for a UK CCT Appropriate experience & training relevant to special interest Ability to offer expert opinion & take full & independent responsibility for clinical care of patients within obstetrics & gynaecology Computer skills Evidence of effective service development Additional clinical experience/training that may be required Management and administrative experience

Qualification / evidence of management and administration experience Attendance at relevant management course for consultants Teaching and training experience
