We have state-of-the-art hospitals at Pontefract and Wakefield and are upgrading the existing Dewsbury Hospital to the same standard. Maternity services are delivered at all three Trust sites. We have antenatal clinics at all three sites and Midwifery Led Birth centres at Pinderfields and Dewsbury, as well as a dedicated Consultant led labour ward at Pinderfields providing 98 hour resident cover per week. Our labour ward is directly linked to our neonatal unit where we have an excellent working relationship with our neonatal team. A separate team is responsible for Elective Caesarean sections and also provides backup to the Labour ward teams if required. We also offer an excellent bereavement service for mothers who have suffered a stillbirth or late miscarriage. There are 3 antenatal day units, one at each hospital site providing daily assessments and reviews. Our present team offers expertise in Maternal Medicine, Multiple pregnancy, Preterm Clinics with cervical length scanning, Fetal Assessment and SGA Scans, and high-risk Obstetrics. The department is fully supported by Obstetric Anaesthetists, Radiology, and the on-call team is provided backup by the Gynaecology on-call team. Main duties of the job

duties for Obstetrics shared with 16 colleagues on an approximately 1:8 basis: Friday/Sunday on-call weekend - resident 08:00 to 19:30 hours during weekends Saturday and Sunday and then non-resident until 08:00 Saturday on-call weekend as above Short working weekend 08:00 to 16:00 Saturday and Sunday (no overnight on-call) Non-patient-facing duties on a post-on call day Hot Week

(Alternate Antenatal/Labour Ward) 1 week in 8: Monday to Friday 08:00 to 18:00 hrs (relieved of other activities during this period) Weekday On-call

duties for Obstetrics shared with 16 colleagues on an approximately 1:16 basis (resident from 17:30 hours until 23:00 hours during weekdays Monday to Friday and then non-resident until 08:00) Non-patient-facing duties on a post-on call day. This post is offered on a full-time (10 PA) basis although less than full-time applications will be considered. On-Call duties will be based on our Pinderfields site but all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our three sites. Person Specification

Qualifications

Medical Degree from a recognised medical school MRCOG or equivalent Academic Prizes Audit or Case Presentations Teaching qualification / awards Management Skills

Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving. Good time management. Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services. Ability to organise & manage e.g. outpatient priorities / theatre lists Experience of audit Ability & willingness to work within the Trust & NHS performance framework & targets Ability to manage & lead junior staff Possess good organisational & personal management skills. Evidence of personal contributions to service development Awareness of the current UK Healthcare system and the need to develop services in line with current policy. Ability to manage, motivate & lead a service Ability to advise on efficient & smooth running of the service GMC Registration

To have responsibility for ensuring active participation in continuing medical education (CME). Any other ATSM Experience in delivering medical education Financial planning and service development Experience of developing maternity informatics Disclosure and Barring Service Check
